Hydro-Comp SA participated in the IMESA 2024 Conference and Exhibition held from November 5th to 8th in Cape Town, South Africa. The annual event brought together municipal engineers, consultants, industry professionals, and leading companies under the theme “Engineering Revolutionised,” to share expertise and discuss the future of municipal management.

This year, Municipal and Water Infrastructure Asset Management remained central to discussions, with a strong focus on Municipal Performance and Resilience. Dr. Dinos Constantinides presented a paper, co-authored with Costas Georgiou, titled “The Role of Advanced Utility Billing and Customer Services Software in Maximizing Municipal Revenue.” The presentation highlighted the critical role of advanced Utility Billing and Customer Services software in improving revenue collection and operational efficiency for municipalities. It also offered innovative procurement strategies designed to support cost-effective implementation and drive positive change in the sector. (PDF)

Additionally, Ms. Este Brand, manager at Hydro-Comp’s Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality branch, and Ms. Mapula Aphane, manager at the Gauteng office, engaged in discussions with municipalities and water service providers about EDAMS Enterprise Management solutions. Their conversations covered industry trends, pressing challenges, and the value of EDAMS solutions for municipal operations.

The upcoming EDAMS-NSSMS (Non-Sewered Sanitation Management System), developed by EDAMS Technology in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, also attracted interest. This system aims to address the severe non-sewered sanitation challenges faced by many municipalities, providing innovative approaches for both municipal bodies and private sector stakeholders.

With keen interest from governing bodies, municipalities, and water boards, Hydro-Comp SA sees exciting prospects for growth in the region and is considering expanding its capacity to meet this demand.
